Team leadership
Introduction
The increasing focus on teamwork puts emphasis on the role played by the team leader in guiding and structuring the team experiences, which foster the development of teamwork skills (Johnson, Beyerlein, & Beyerlein, 1997). Primarily, team leaders enhance the developmental progress of the team. Besides, the team leaders are tasked with enhancing coherence and adaptive capabilities among the team members. Fundamentally, leaders can promote team effectiveness by enhancing participative leadership, shared responsibility, effective communication, rapid response, and promoting creativity (Kinicki & Fugate, 2012). The team leaders should establish team charters that highlight how the teams will operate. Furthermore, the leaders should consider the members to be included in the team based on the responsibilities of the team and the capabilities of the group members.
Objectives
1. By the end of this session, the participants will recognize the ways through which work teams are constructed and establishing exemplary team leadership. Besides, the learners will recognize the impacts born by the team leader on the whole group (Sivasubramaniam, Murry, Avolio, & Jung, 2002).
